I had the opportunity this past Saturday to race a Kart  in the Gatorz Karting Cup / So-Cal Rotax Max Challenge. With a lot of help from Efrain at Shift Communications Group, and FTK – Full Throttle Karting. I had a great first kart outing and race!

I had driven real Karts a couple years ago , they were fun and fast. This however was an actual event and I would be racing, not just driving around. I hit the track early in the morning for practice, the Fontana track proved to be bumpy and fast.  As practice went on i improved my line and eventually went into qualifying were i had a clutch break, but still qualified well and was still improving.

I was happy to qualify in the middle of the group, got a good start and was working my way up through the pack. Unfortunately as i was overtaking 4th place in a very fast part of the track ( maybe not the best place) we made slight contact and instantly I was airborne and backwards! Being a drifter this was not a feeling i was accustomed to… lol. I quickly touched back down and recovered but by then had dropped to the back well out of the lead pack. It was still a great race and extremely fun. I would recommend Karting to anyone and am already looking forward to getting out to another karting event.

Too much fun, Went out to Adams track last night with Pat M. What a blast. I started at a grassroots level years ago and it was great to get out there on a Thur night. 100s of spectators, lots of cars, good announcer! Taco stand…. Definitely going to go back out there!
